Who We Are at Prelude Education

A Personal Approach to Music Tuition

At Prelude Education, we believe every child deserves more than “just music lessons.” They deserve a teacher they truly click with — someone who inspires them, nurtures their confidence, and helps them discover the joy of music.

We founded Prelude with this goal: to take away the uncertainty for parents and make music education simple, safe, and inspiring.

Our Philosophy

We don’t believe in directories or quick matches. We believe in listening carefully to each family, understanding a child’s personality and goals, and hand-picking a teacher who feels right.

Because when a child clicks with the right teacher, everything changes:

Confidence grows.

Progress feels natural.

Music becomes a joy, not a chore.

Our Teachers

Every Prelude teacher is:

  • A conservatoire graduate (Royal Academy, Royal College, Guildhall, Juilliard).

  • Experienced — 7+ years of teaching on average.

  • Carefully vetted: initial screening, in-depth interview with our founder, professional references, and enhanced DBS clearance.

Beyond qualifications, they are role models — musicians who inspire as much as they instruct.

Meet just a few of them:

  • Teacher at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, 8 years of teaching experience.

“I believe teaching is centred around kindness, wilful sharing, and developing a supportive relationship between teacher and student.”

  • Piano Teacher at Junior Guildhall & Royal College of Music, 16 years’ teaching experience.

“My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that effective learning stems from love and passion for music. I strive to create an environment where my students can thrive and develop their own musical voice.”

What Our Families Say

Start Your Journey With Us

If you’ve already enquired, the next step is simple:

Book a short call with our founder, Miles, and let’s find the teacher who will make music a lasting part of your child’s life.

Still Have Questions?

Here are the answers parents ask most before starting with us.

  • We take time to understand your child’s personality, learning style, and goals. Then we hand-pick a teacher from our carefully vetted team — and if the first match isn’t perfect, we’ll keep working until it is.

  • Everything from piano, violin, and guitar to drums, singing, and more. Essentially, it's in an orchestra, we'll have a great teacher! Even if your child plays something unusual, just ask — our network is wide, and we can almost always find the right teacher.

  • All our teachers are conservatoire graduates with years of experience. Every teacher is interviewed, reference-checked, and DBS-cleared, so you can be confident your child is in safe hands.

  • Fees depend on lesson length, but most range from £60–£90. Our prices reflect the experience of our teachers and the wrap-around support you’ll receive.

  • Not one-off trials, but we do offer a two-week trial period. You’ll have complete flexibility to switch or stop lessons if it doesn’t feel right. Lessons are still chargeable in this period.

  • Most families choose lessons at home, but we also offer online and studio options. Whatever works best for your child and schedule.

  • Not necessarily. We can guide you on the best options for renting or buying instruments, and in some cases, teachers can provide access to a studio instrument.
