Private music teachers, hand-matched to your child
Lessons at home, online, or in a studio across London. We listen, then handpick the one teacher who fits your child, and handle everything after.
You tell us about your child → We handpick the right teacher → Lessons begin, we manage the rest
Our Philosophy
We don’t do directories or quick matches.
We listen carefully to each family, get to know your child's personality and goals, and handpick a teacher who feels right. When a child clicks with the right teacher, confidence grows, progress feels natural, and music becomes a joy rather than a chore.
Our Teachers
Every Prelude teacher is:
A conservatoire graduate (Royal Academy, Royal College, Guildhall, Juilliard).
Experienced — 7+ years of teaching on average.
Carefully vetted: initial screening, in-depth interview with our founder, professional references, and enhanced DBS clearance.
Beyond qualifications, they are role models — musicians who inspire as much as they instruct.

The Prelude Process
Every child’s musical journey is unique — our process ensures they’re guided by the right teacher, supported at every step, and inspired to love learning.
Step 1 – Listen & Learn
We get to know your child’s personality, musical experience, and learning style.
Step 2 – Hand-Pick the Perfect Teacher
We carefully match your child with the teacher who best suits their needs and schedule.
Step 3 – Manage All the Admin
We handle invoicing, scheduling, and organisation, so lessons feel effortless.
Step 4 – Track Progress
We provide regular reports and ongoing support, so you can celebrate your child’s achievements.
Our role doesn’t end once lessons begin. We remain a partner in your child’s education, guiding you through every stage of their musical journey.
Finn H., Parent
"Fantastic experience with Prelude. I've never had such great communication throughout my son's musical education, and I only wish I had encountered Prelude before. I am a parent and Miles and Prelude are responsive and responsible, so supportive, liaising between terrific teachers and us parents with ease - and providing comprehensive feedback from the tutor too at the end of every month in the shape of a written report. Prelude really is the best - including paying attention to the small things, like sending my son a card on the day of his audition wishing him luck."

Still Have Questions?
Here are the answers parents ask most before starting with us.
-
We take time to understand your child’s personality, learning style, and goals. Then we hand-pick a teacher from our carefully vetted team — and if the first match isn’t perfect, we’ll keep working until it is.
-
-
All our teachers are conservatoire graduates with years of experience. Every teacher is interviewed, reference-checked, and DBS-cleared, so you can be confident your child is in safe hands.
-
Fees depend on lesson length, but most range from £60–£90. Our prices reflect the experience of our teachers and the wrap-around support you’ll receive.
-
You're never locked in. For your first two weeks, you can switch teachers or stop at any time. Lessons during this period are charged as normal, so it's a real trial of the teaching, with none of the commitment.
After the two-week trial, we then have a flexible two-week notice period for termination.
We always have a 48-hour cancellation policy for single lessons. -
Most families choose lessons at home, but we also offer online and studio options. Whatever works best for your child and schedule.
-
Not necessarily. We can guide you on the best options for renting or buying instruments, and in some cases, teachers can provide access to a studio instrument.
