We foster a supportive environment where our teachers feel valued. We always pay above the Musicians' Union recommended rate, and up to 75% above it for 30-minute lessons. We also match families to teachers carefully, so you're teaching students who suit your style.

Teachers We Need Most: Teachers who love teaching young children
Many of the families who come to us are just starting out, often with children aged three to six. We're particularly keen to hear from teachers who find working with children this age deeply rewarding. If you can turn a scale into a game and a first lesson into something a child talks about all week, we'd love to meet you.

How to become a music teacher with Prelude?
If you teach piano, violin, guitar, singing or drums, we welcome applications from teachers who:
Hold an undergraduate degree (or above) from a leading conservatoire, or have extensive teaching experience
Have at least three years of teaching experience. Most of our teachers are classically trained, but we also welcome applications from non-classical backgrounds
Can teach in person in London for at least one academic year, and ideally longer
Early years experience
We give particular priority to teachers with experience teaching children aged three to six. Training in approaches such as Suzuki, Kodály, Dalcroze or early-years music is a real plus, so please tell us about it in your application.

What’s next?
After you've submitted your application, we'll review it as soon as possible. As part of the form, we encourage teachers to submit a short video (one to two minutes). It doesn't need to be polished.
If your application is successful, we'll invite you to an interview. After a successful interview, we'll follow up with your references and complete our safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. We'll support you through this if you don't already have one, and we'll only ask you to complete it once you've passed the interview.
