Ralph Allwood MBE

Ralph Allwood MBE DMus was Director of Music at Eton College for 26 years and is a Senior Music Scholarship Advisor at Prelude Education.

As a Senior Scholarship Advisor, Ralph supports potential scholarship applicants and their families through the entire process of achieving a music scholarship at their first-choice school. Having personally supported over 400 students to be awarded music scholarships to some of the most competitive schools in the UK, Ralph is Britain’s leading authority on music scholarships.

Outside of his work at Prelude Education, Ralph is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Rodolfus Foundation. Founded in 1980, the Rodolfus Foundation is a charity committed to choral singing education and over ten thousand 8- to 20-year-olds have since completed the course.

Ralph is also the co-founder and conductor of Inner Voices, made up of singers from state schools in London; co-founder of the Pimlico Musical Foundation; Chair of the Choral Evensong Trust; Supervisor for Harmony at Jesus College, Cambridge; Director the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir; co-founder of the National Youth Music Theatre; and an Honorary Fellow of University College, Durham.  

In recognition for Ralph’s services to choral music, he was made a MBE in the 2012 New Year’s Honours list. In 2017, the Archbishop of Canterbury presented him with the Thomas Cranmer Award for Music and Worship.
